BFnews: Shia people in different parts of Saudi Arabia such as Esha, Qatif, Dammam, and Madina held celebrations to mark Imam Mahdi’s birthday.
Streets and villages across different cities in Saudi Arabia were illuminated on 15th Sha'aban in the lunar calendar.
On this auspicious day, the streets in the country were replete with young people and children. Shias also visited neighbors’ houses and mark this day.
Those who lived out of shai regions celebrated this auspicious event in their own houses.
Some of them also traveled to Madina, Karbala and also Mashhad to celebrate the birthday of Imam Mahdi the twelfth and the last Imam of Shiite Muslims.
Based on Shiite faith the twelfth Imam lives among his people but remains unknown until the day he reappears as a savior of mankind, filling the world with his blessings.
According to the belief of Shiites and some Sunnis, Imam Mahdi is hidden by God and will unite all Muslims at the time of his reappearance.
They say that upon his arrival he will be accompanied by a number of holy men including Jesus Christ.
The 15th of Sha'ban festival were also marked in other countries such as Egypt, Tajikistan, Pakistan, Afghanistan and India.
