Britain acknowledges training the Saudi forces that entered Bahrain
BFnews: On Friday, the "Daily Telegraph" newspaper mentioned that the British government acknowledged that British troops training members of the Saudi National Guard who entered Bahrain to oppress the demonstrators.

The British Armed Forces Minister Nick Harvey said in a written reply to a parliamentary question that the government "cannot exclude the possibility that British-trained Saudi forces participated in the Bahraini operation."

Harvey added: "the Ministry of Defense has a wide and significant connection with Saudi Arabia to support the government’s foreign policy objectives. This connection includes the training of the Saudi National Guard, which is being carried out by the British mission”, and he continued saying: “It is possible that some members of the Saudi National Guard that were deployed in Bahrain had received some of the training undertaken by the British military mission.”

The newspaper pointed out that "Britain has a large military training team in Saudi Arabia, where the British military mission in Saudi Arabia trains Saudi forces in secret, including training to face the demonstrations."

The "Daily Telegraph" considered that the Ministry of Defense’s acknowledgement that some of the Saudi troops that entered Bahrain may have been trained at the hands of British troops “may fuel accusations that the Western alliance is sending mixed signals regarding democracy in the Middle East.”
